How a day works
One curriculum.
Built across the week.
Training runs 11am – 2:30pm, Monday through Wednesday, followed by our History & Musicality Seminar on Thursday.
This isn't a schedule of disconnected workshops. What begins on Monday develops throughout the week — with each session building on the concepts, movement and understanding from the day before.
Built in blocks
Each training day is divided into two or three focused blocks depending on what the curriculum needs. Rather than rushing to finish a topic in one hour, we give concepts the time they need to develop.
Everything connects
Technique, partnerwork and musicality aren't treated as separate subjects on separate days. We work with them together — because that's how you actually use them when you dance.
One teaching team
The teachers work within one shared curriculum. Different perspectives and specialties are brought into the same learning process instead of becoming isolated workshops.
Space to go deeper
Questions, discussion, guest teachers and additional context have room inside the program. Not everything valuable fits neatly into a one-hour class.
The 2027 program and schedule are subject to change. We reserve the right to make adjustments where they serve the training.

Groups are kept small enough that teachers can see individuals, not a room. You leave knowing the one or two things that will actually move your dancing — not a folder of notes you never open.
Music, history and culture
Learn the music,
not just the counts.
Live percussion in the room, the structure of a mambo arrangement, and where this dance came from. Dancers who understand the music stop waiting for the beat and start answering it.

Seven days.
Days for training, nights for the city.
Training Monday to Thursday, closing with the history and musicality seminar, then three days of congress workshops. Evenings are the city's own — nights out, live music and the congress parties.

Choose your track
Two tracks. The right
level of challenge.
Two serious training environments running in parallel, designed to give every dancer the right level of challenge.
The Main Track is open to dancers who meet the Intermediate+ minimum level. The Advanced Track requires a placement test, so that everyone in the room can train effectively at the intended pace and complexity.
Main Track
Minimum level: Intermediate+
50 spots only
No placement test required
Open to every dancer who meets the Intermediate+ minimum level.
For experienced intermediate dancers and above who want to deepen their fundamentals, improve their understanding and build stronger, cleaner execution.
You should be comfortable with
- Solid understanding of mambo fundamentals and body movement mechanics
- Double turns, and working toward consistent triple turns
- Familiarity with common mambo footwork and partnerwork vocabulary
- Basic understanding of mambo music, timing and structure
ImportantThis track is not designed for beginners. If you are still developing your basic timing, basic step or fundamental On2 vocabulary, the pace will be faster than is useful for you.
Advanced Track
Minimum level: Advanced
50 spots only
Placement test required
Handled in May–June 2027 — nothing to do when you book.
For advanced and highly experienced dancers who are ready for faster pacing, greater complexity and more demanding material.
You should be comfortable with
- Precise command of mambo fundamentals and body mechanics
- Strong understanding of musical structure, clave, percussion and timing
- Consistent triple turns and experience with more demanding turning combinations
- Fluency in mambo footwork, partnerwork patterns and variations
- Learning and adapting quickly without needing fundamentals to be rebuilt
The paceThis track moves fast. Fundamentals are refined and challenged rather than taught from the beginning.
Each track takes 50 dancers. Tracks and roles fill at different rates, and when one is full it is closed — book the room you want rather than waiting to decide.
Advanced placement
One placement test.
Two Advanced tracks.
If you are joining both Mambo Experience and Mamboland ESM, you do not need to qualify twice.
The Advanced Track placement test is shared between Mambo Experience and Mamboland ESM.
Complete the test once. If you are accepted at the Advanced level, your placement is valid for both the Mambo Experience training and the Mamboland ESM Advanced Track over the congress weekend.
This creates one consistent Advanced level throughout your New York training experience.
When it happensPlacement is handled in May and June 2027, in the months before the training. Booking does not start a clock — choose Advanced when you book, and we come to you with the test when the time comes. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to send in the meantime.

We come to you in May and June 2027 with everything you need. There is nothing to prepare before then.

Receive your placement
You are placed in Advanced or in Main, and we tell you which room is yours well before you travel.

It carries over
An Advanced placement also applies to the Mamboland ESM Advanced Track.
Placement exists to build the right room, not to judge anyone. It lets the teachers work at an advanced level from the first hour, and it means every dancer trains at a pace they can actually learn from.
